I wasn't very keen on restoring the ccsetup591.zip file from quarantine before I had some indication that it was likely a false positive. Weird as Virus Total doesn't show MS as detecting it. Summer seemed to last longer when I was younger. As things. OK, so I have to ask, "who stole summer and what did you do with it"? With my son heading back to school and all the staff back from holidays the long grind from September to December starts.

SpiceQuest September (2023) - Of Pirates and Parties Spiceworks Originals.I think the main point of it is to trick people into paying them, it didn't seem to be a deeply entrenched virus. Normally, "I'm a nuke it from orbit" kind of guy, but this was on a non-critical machine (not on our domain) and it took me all of about 15 minutes to eradicate the infection. A virus scan came up with like one other issue, I think it was a registry entry and that took care of it. Also removed a startup entry pointing to the now deleted file. I found the path to the infected file with a quick google and it wouldn't let me delete it, so that's when I looked for and killed the process and was able to then delete the file. The computer was essentially locked out as the ransomeware took control over the session and you couldn't ctrl-alt-del, but merely switching users was all I had to do. I think I remember it being something like "fest0r" or something along those lines. I don't recall exactly what the name of the process was, I just took a look at the running processes and recognized the one that didn't belong. Others ways would be live bootable cd scanners but i like this method so far, its quicker and less rebooting.
